UA Miracle, the largest student- lead philanthropic organization, held their final event BAMAThon on February 15, where they revealed the total amount of money raised for Children’s Hospital in Birmingham- $223,725. Other events held over the year that also contributed to the total were a golf tournament, Miracle Gala, and Mini Marathons organized and held at Northridge, Hillcrest and Tuscaloosa County High Schools.
BAMAthon is the annual 12-hour dance marathon, where over 1,000 students participated in activities like Miracle’s Got Talent, Silent Disco, and the Elephant Stomp with the UA Million Dollar Band and Crimsonettes. The program also welcomes UAMiracle kids. These children are selected to spend the year attending all the UA Miracle events. They are celebrated and share their treatment experiences at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. These children provide the UA students and community partners the opportunity to learn how the funds they are raising supports patients.
Since the inception of UA Miracle in 2011, the student organization has raised over $3 million dollars and provided hours of entertainment and awareness for the only free-standing pediatric hospital in Alabama. Hayden Phillips, UA Miracle 2024-2025 president shared, “ 100% our donations directly go to funding child life services, pastoral care, the sunshine school and other units that emphasize the importance of kids having the opportunity to feel like regular kids in the hospital.” UA Miracle Raises $223,725 for Children’s of Alabama – University of Alabama News
