Beyond Bama organizes service trips for UA students during university breaks. When students participate in Beyond Bama, they get the chance to travel to communities domestically and abroad. These trips offer an all-inclusive experience for students while providing education on issues such as literacy, poverty, culture, hunger, homelessness, and the environment.
Fall Break Trips
Our Fall Break trips occur during UA’s Fall Break, when classes are dismissed for a Thursday and Friday at the end of October.
This year our Fall Break trip is a collaboration with The Selma Resilience through the Culverhouse College of Business. We will stay in the city of Selma, AL and visit Montgomery, AL from Thursday, October 30 – November 2nd. Apply now!
Spring Break Trips
Our Spring Break trips occur during UA’s Spring Break, when UA closes for a week around the middle of March.
Want to see what kinds of trips were offered in the past? Check out our Beyond Bama 2025 Spring Break Trips.
Learning Partners
While student trip leaders plan, organize, and lead the trip, chaperones (or what we like to call Learning Partners) are responsible for facilitating positive discussion, holding receipts, and calling the appropriate contacts in the case of an emergency. This role offers a great opportunity to serve while learning about issues faced by other communities and connecting with students outside of the classroom. Beyond Bama welcomes all applications from UA employees, and these trips are free for Learning Partners. Fill out our Learning Partner Interest Form, or check out our Learning Partners section for expectations and frequently asked questions.
